Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania!

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport.  A friendly smile awaits you and ready to transfer to Mt. Meru Hotel.  Set on 9 acres of lush landscape and against one of the most majestic backdrops, the picturesque of Mt. Meru, sister peak to Africa’s highest summit Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Day 2: Visit Oldupai Gorge “Cradle of Mankind”

After breakfast this morning, your journey takes you to Oldupai Gorge; commonly referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind”, as it is one of the world’s most important prehistoric sites.  Excavation was most notably pioneered by Drs. Richard and Mary Leakey who not only discovered fossil remains of early hominids but also stone tools and ancient artifacts.  All of which have provided great insight into the progression of industrialization among the lives of early hominids.  It is certainly an astonishing and impacting experience. Enjoy picnic lunch at the site.  Depart the site in the afternoon and drive to Ngorongoro highlands.

Day 3: Tour of Ngorongoro Crater

Today experience one of the world’s wonders, Ngorongoro Crater. It is very important to wake up early today in order to be one of the first to capture movement on the crater floor. 

Shaped like a massive bowl with hues of lush green and brown, the crater was formed a result of sunken volcano millions of years ago. Designated as a World Heritage Site, its permanent supply of water and food supports close to 25,000 mammals of which the Africa’s Big 5 animals are amongst. The bird life is also prolific with flocks of flamingos on the soda lake as well as other species of water and plain birds.  Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Spend more time in this natural beauty on game viewing. As you ascend the crater floor, marvel at all that you have witnessed in a full day, and stop at the top for an amazing view.  Then, drive back to Arusha for overnight.

Day 4: Fly to Zanzibar Island!

Wake up this morning and enjoy your breakfast at leisure while taking time to reflect on the past few days. Then you pay a short visit to Shanga craft workshop that empowers disabled Tanzanians to realize their potential, develop news skills and improve their own lives through using recycled materials and producing at a sustainable level.

After lunch and rest, you are transferred to Arusha Airport to board an afternoon scheduled flight to Zanzibar. On arrival at Zanzibar Airport, our representative is there waiting to meet you and transfer to Stone Town.  

Day 5: Festival Opening Ceremonies

Today is the opening day of Sauti za Busara Music Festival!  Wake up and enjoy your delicious breakfast at leisure.  Since the music programs starts in the evening, contact the front desk to assist you choose from the varieties of tours offered including dhow cruise, dolphin, and traditional dhow cruise, visit Jozani Forest, Blue safari and among many others.

Zanzibar, also knowns as the “Island of Spice” evokes a romantic aroma of cinnamon, cloves, cadamon and lemon grass.  With a tour guide head to a local Spice Farm where you will embark on a soft walking track of greenery profusion in the countryside – Touch, smell and tasting the variety of spices, herbs and mouth-watering tropical season fruits including pineapple, jackfruit, coconut and many more. Try local Swahili dishes and wash down by spice tea.

Return to the hotel to rest and get ready for the opening ceremony of Sauti za Busara.

Day 6 – 8: Local Excursions and Performances

This morning wake up and enjoy breakfast at leisure. You can choose to spend the day shopping at bazaar or take a guided walk through this colorful and alternative city with tour knowledgeable tour guides, who knows not only funny of Stone town, but also stories to tell about life of the olds times in Stone town.  Take a break and enjoy Swahili lunch at a local restaurant.

In the evening, as the sunshine softens and shadows start to stretch out, you are off to “Old Fort” in Stone Town where the music festivals begin.  There is a continuous daily and virtually non-stop music into the evening until midnight.  There are 400 musicians including both upcoming and established groups, acoustic and electric from East Africa and beyond, all performing 100% live.  Enjoy it all.

Day 9: Pure Relaxation on the Beach

This morning enjoy your breakfast at leisure taking it all in your have experienced about wildlife and music festival!  Then, you are transferred to Sea Cliff Resort  & Spa to spend a day on the beach.  The resort is situated on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean and offers panoramic view from the lounges, bars restaurant and even room.  You can enjoy breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean or dinner under the stars.

Day 10: Departure – Fly Back Home

Your trip is coming to an end today!  Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at your leisure this morning.   Then, depending on the time schedule of your international flight, you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport for a short flight to Dar es Salaam to connect with your flight back home.
